For much of 2009, the finance market was overshadowed by a loss of investor confidence. The market is slowly beginning to stabilize, however, with overall conditions and M&A deal flow improving since the second quarter of 2009. Moreover, the robust nature of the high-yield market has meant that companies are able to refinance their debt and extend their maturities, giving them a little more breathing room. All in all, staying on a conservative course is recommended, even as budding opportunities begin to emerge.
