Honey, I'm Stuck in the Office—Again

from July/August 2007
by Laura J. Finn

And who would mind working late, with a view like this— especially on a night when there’s a National Football League game down below? The room is the lobby of Bodman, ranked one of the top five law firms in Detroit in the Corporate Board Member /FTI Consulting survey. The Bodman office is inside Ford Field, home of one of the firm’s clients, the Detroit Lions. The main conference room and the office set aside for visiting attorneys have a similar view. Bodman’s chairman, Larry R. Shulman, 53 (at right in the photo, with vice chairman David M. Hempstead), says he and his firm are thrilled with the 67,000-square-foot space—and, presumably, its pulling power. The firm has entertained clients with football games, WrestleMania, and concerts. And when the men’s NCAA Midwest regional basketball games begin at Ford Field in 2008, the office will no doubt bustle with attorneys burning the midnight oil. Thanksgiving Day may see some attorneys working too. The Lions have a home game.
